recently purchased a place at Spruce Grove. Have my own great view there. But like to check out the view once fall/winter arrive and Leaves
are off the trees so no issue when they go. Seeing the lake makes makes me happy. Please keep the camera gouing.

It's been 10 years since you were going to move the camera closer to the water. Are you still going to move it?

Thanks so much for sharing this service. I am a frequent (not as frequent as I would like), visitor from PA., with a camp at Spruce Grove. I enjoy checking on the "Big O" when I am not able to get up to fish and enjoy the lake. Wherever you place your camera, I will continue to check in to see what the weather and lake is doing. I really enjoy keeping the Oneida Lake cam view up on my computer. Brings back many, many memories of the best gift my father, Les, ever gave us: a childhood spent on and in the Lake. We had a camp on Toad Harbor Road, right on the lake and later my father built his retirement home a couple of lots down. Remember Poddygut Bay and those three strange canals? Back then there was a Toad Harbor Lodge, some cabins, and a country band on weekends. The hand dug ponds across the street were good for the minnow traps to go with the worms I raised in the garage.

The seasons are distinct up there and have their own tasks associated with them. Docks have to come out before the lake freezes or you lose those docks you spent so much time building and fitting together correctly. Put on the waders and brace yourself for some cold water. But it's ok, your hands are hard and calloused from moving stones, swinging hammers, shoveling sand and cement into the wheelbarrow. Feels kinda good as long as you don't submerge them too long, then it hurts. Takes at least two to bring the boat hoist up on shore. Chain everything to the tree 'cause you never know. Ice goes out and pulls stuff in with it.

When spring and summer come, struggle to grow some decent tomatoes in stony or clay soil. Mosquitos big as bats... well maybe not that big but certainly more threatening! Can't sit out in the front yard too long. Go in and play dominoes or putter with the puzzle over there on the card table. So hot in the afternoon, not good fishing, best to read a book and nap in the back bedroom, a soft breeze coming through the screen window. Mount the mower on the small Ford tractor and do some lawn.

Winter again now. Make sure the pump is insulated, don't want that to freeze up.

It's cold even in Philly. I miss the lake. I am grateful for the technology to bring us this wonderful, reminisent view!

You are very gracious to share your view with all of us. I check back regularly to see how the weather is. It has been fun to watch your ice grow both in thickness and downwardly.
In regard to the view: What is your desire? It would be less than thoughtful to assume that I know what the best view is! Reality is that I don't know. So with that said, I would like to see what you want to show me.
I have been in Arizona for 32 years and I do miss the North Country. I appreciate your sharing with me.

We have a summer home on the other side of Cleveland (Drive 10). It really helps me to see how much snow is in the area when I feel the need to check on the house. Our home is in DeWitt. We used to watch the cam at Borio's till they shut it off. Yours is more useful- Thanx

I'm a former Syracusan, now a resident of Tallahassee, FL. I like the cam right where it is, for the same reason as Dolly. I can see the lake, I can see the grass, and the fence helps me to gauge how "flurry-ous your latest snow fall may have been----even ice melt and most recently those gorgeous icicles. One day I made it my desktop background, as did another Syracuse pal, now living in Portland OR. Thank you so very much for this visual treasure.

My son and his family live in Oneida and we live in Ohio.I really enjoy seeing what the weather is like near their home. A Grandma

I'm in Tallahassee, FL now but my Grammy lived in Bernhard's Bay for some time. I check this every day because it looks like Gramma's front /back yard and I am back to 1967 again... Even in the winter, I can tell from the snow accumulation, that shows on the fencing, how much snow is happening. I cannot thank the owners of this property enough for allowing me a view of their present, and a view of my past. Cheryl Demong Haver
